Ouistreham, Caen to Madre
From the ferry port keep on the main road which will take you out of Ouistreham (D514) and becomes a dual carriageway.
Turn right at the first roundabout – signpost ALENCON, this road is the Caen orbital road, go over the bridge, following signs PARIS & ROUEN. Travel until you reach sortie signpost ALENCON, turn off slip road by Macdonald’s and Lancia garage. Go around the roundabout third exit signpost FALAISE N158, Dual carriageway.
Stay on the dual carriageway until you reach FALAISE, end of dual carriageway.
First roundabout you come to, which will be on the outskirts of FALAISE go straight over following signposts BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE – N158.
Second roundabout – 3rd exit signpost BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE.
Third roundabout – 1st exit signpost BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE – D509.
Follow road through BAZOUCHES and PUTANGES – D909 Following signs for BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE.
Turn right a T-junction D924 then take second left (only about 150 metres) D19 BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE.
Travel through LE GRAIS, follow road until T-junction (La Ferte Mace outskirts) turn left – D20
Centre ville after about 400 metres turn right at roundabout, travel up to the next roundabout and turn left, 3rd exit signpost AUTRE DIRECTIONS D916.
Go down the hill with the lake on your right, (you are now about 15/20 mins from the house, this lake has sandy beaches on one side and is great for swimming or other watersports, there is also crazy golf, miniature golf, volley ball and a cafe/bar).
The next roundabout turn right D916 to COUTERNE, passing BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE on your right, (another great town to visit, turn right where signpost and go around the centre for a quick visit and back to the same junction, I always do this on my visit to Madre as it is so pretty, lots of bars/cafes around the centre fountain.
Turn left at COUTERNE N176.
After approximately. 3 km you will come to MEHOUDIN turn right by the church, just after the bar signpost MADRE, after approx. 3 km take the first right into MADRE.
The house is the second house on the right hand side. If you get to the bar you have gone to far.
There is space for one car outside the house, other cars can park in the square.
