The Local Area

The beautiful surrounding area of L ‘Orne, the Andaines forest, and the delightful spa town of Bagnoles de I’Orne make Guinevere a great base for a whole host of activities which has something for everyone.

Whether it be the peaceful activities of walking, cycling, and horseriding which are available from Madre itself, with the tranquil Mayenne river only two kilometers to the North, and the Ferme de Cheme farm museum one kilometer to the South.

Or the excitement of dancing the night away in several of the areas renowned night spots.

The peaceful village of Madre contains a friendly cafe/bar, post office, children’s playing area, butchers, and a bakery which serves delicious freshly baked bread every morning just across the square.
